Gateway 9300 laptop blank LCD screen

Hi,
Does anyone know what the likely problem is with my Gateway 9300 laptop screen?
It was working fine until I closed the unit for a couple of days. However when I next went to use it the screen remained blank.
I linked an external monitor up & that is working okay.
The same problem happened about 12 months ago but rectified itself after a couple of days. No such luck on this occasion.

Their might be video interface cable breakage, or dead LCD, I can help you in replacing LCD but if their is a breakage cable problem, it would be impossible to replace.

Mine sometimes does that & can be recovered by using the "Fn" key with the "LCD/CRT' key (i.e.: Fn + F3). The Fn key i sin 2 locations, to the left & right of the space bar while the F3 is hte standard function key. In my case, it seems as if the computer forgets I'd wanted the LCD on even if there is no external monitor! Normall this key rotates through LCD, LCD & CRT, and CRT only.
