They say there's no such thing as a free lunch nor a gold watch for a dollar. Both of those are true. Fortunately there are many people who have decided for various reasons to provide Freeware. These are programs which are free to you the user. One word of caution. Just because it doesn't cost money doesn't mean you should forget the all time best motto when it comes to downloads: "Buyer beware."

Pegasus Mail

This is the program I use. Many folks like Eudora. I like Pegasus (and totally ignore OutLook). This program is freeware. You don't pay a dime unless you want a printed manual. After you work with the program a while and decide that you like it, then consider purchase of the manual. The cost is well worth it. And it does keep David Harris et al. working on one of the great email programs.
